Portable Appliance Testing

The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and the self-employed to comply with the provisions of the regulations and to take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of electrical equipment in the workplace environment.

In addition the Health and Safety at Work Act places obligations in the following circumstances where; ·

  • Appliances are used by employees. ·
  • The public may use appliances in establishments such as hospitals, educational establishments, hotels, shops etc. ·
  • Appliances are supplied or hired, repaired or serviced.

Compliance for the above necessitates the implementation of a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing, and portable appliance testing (PAT) should be undertaken by a competent person as a minimum on an annual basis, or more frequently where a Risk Assessment dictates.

In addition to the Engineers of Rose Fire & Security Limited being City and Guilds trained and certified in Portable Appliance Testing, we also provide our customers with computer generated asset registers of all their appliances tested, along with a full and detailed report on the type of appliance, location, VA rating, and full schedule and details of tests undertaken enabling them to facilitate evidence of the same should they be required to do so.
